TIPS ON BUYING A CAR
Protect yourself when buying a car, Shop Around!
- Spend at least one to two days shopping around .Go to a number of different dealers
- Take notes on the cars and prices at the dealers .Have mechanic inspect care before buying it!
- A mechanic can tell you if the car will need major repairs in the future. This is the best way to protect yourself.
- Take the car off the dealer's lot for a full inspection.
- If the car dealer will not let you take the care off the lot for an inspection - DO NOT BUY THE CAR!
Most Used Cars are sold to you "As Is"!!
Do your own inspection!
You may be responsible for all the repairs!
- Don't buy a car just because it looks good.
- Take the car on a long test drive.
- Drive uphill to check power.
- Drive uphill to inspect brakes.
- Check heat, lights, air-conditioning, door locks, horn, windshield wiper, radio, etc. - Make sure they all work!!

Check the odometer for mileage!
The more mileage may mean more frequent repairs, and it is likely the car will not last as long!!

Other Important Things to Remember
- Bargain with the car lowered.
- Car dealers compete for your business, look up the average price of the car in the blue book or look it up on the Internet at Kelley Blue Book
- Use the for bargaining. You can fine the "blue book" in the library, at the DNA Legal Service office or use the website Kelley Blue Book
- Get anything the dealer promises to do for your in writing! Note: If you pay with rugs, jewelry or crafts, have the dealer also put this in writing!
- Seek Legal Counsel immediately ... If you do have problems!
IMPORTANT TIPS
Take someone with you when you are buying a car. Do not go alone. Never NEVER sign a blank contract!
Make absolutely sure you understand what you are signing! Take time and read each piece of paper front and back! Know what your monthly payments are, how many payments, total sale price, interest rate and finance charge-keep monthly payments receipts!
NEVER BUY INSURANCE FROM A CAR DEALER! Go to an insurance agent.
DO NOT GET PRESSURED INTO BUYING A CAR YOU DO NOT WANT!
